Principles of RAIN
1. As an alliance of Christian communities, we are motivated by an understanding of faith that requires more than a personal relationship to the divine. Justice, love of neighbor, compassion, reconciliation, and serving others (especially the poor) are at the heart of God's message in the Scriptures. We engage in public advocacy, so that these principles are reflected in public policy.
2. Our special calling, manifest in Holy Scripture, is to speak up for the care of those who are least able to speak for themselves or who have the least basic necessities of life. We hear the Prophet Micah (6:8) and seek “to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with our God.”
3. A government based on democracy must serve the common good. Our focus is primarily on the State of Nevada, and we see our duty to speak prophetically to our government, so it works for the good of all Nevadans.
4. RAIN acts on consensus and bases its positions on the religious policies and documents of its member denominations, which support RAIN with a small annual fee and the urging of their parishioners to support the concerns of RAIN.
